Why Now

The Mono-Culture Approach is Failing.

Asian leadership is driving business success regionally and global agendas are becoming more important. Leaders must avoid the trap of settling for Asian market prsence and embrace multicultural and cross-cultural challenges to position them for huge value creation.

After a lifetime working and consulting across Asia, the Founder set up Sigma Mentoring to support global expansion from Asia. We provide the busienss and cultural insights to negotiate, govern, lead, and build commercially, whether you are an Asian executive stepping onto the global stage, or a Western professional entering Asian markets.

Why Sigma

What No Other Provider in This Market Can Offer

01
Field-Built, Not Desk-Built
Every Sigma framework was developed through direct observation of what breaks down in real organisations — in boardrooms in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur — not through academic literature review. Twenty-eight years in the room is the research programme.
02
Mentoring, Not Just Training
Sigma programmes are built around personal practice change — not knowledge transfer. The 1-1 mentoring offer, the Oxford Pathway, and the Personal Action Plan architecture all exist because capability without application is not capability. Every participant leaves with a specific commitment, not a certificate.
03
Cultural Architecture, Not Awareness
Sigma does not teach cultural sensitivity. It teaches cultural architecture — how to design leadership, governance, negotiation, and commercial practices that work specifically across the cultural registers you encounter. The output is a changed professional practice.
04
Both Directions, Genuinely
Sigma serves both the Asian professional going global and the Western professional entering Asia — not as an add-on to a Western-designed curriculum, but as a genuinely bilateral proposition designed from the ground up for both journeys.
05
Seven Languages, Seven Markets
Dual-track architecture across English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Bahasa Malaysia. Seven market-specific cultural overlays. No other leadership curriculum in this space has this infrastructure.
06
Oxford Validated
Sigma frameworks are used in Oxford University teaching. The Niigata Accord simulation is part of the Hertford College Oxford Pathway. Visiting Faculty status at Oxford is not a marketing claim — it is evidence that the framework quality meets the standard of a world-leading academic institution.
About the Founder

Built by an
Academic turned Practitioner.

Brendan McMahon spent 28 years based in Asia — not studying these markets from an office in London, but living in them, negotiating in them, leading in them, and building businesses in them.

Every framework in the Sigma curriculum was developed from direct observation of what breaks down and what works across seven Asian markets. The governance gap, the transformation sandwich, the silence misread, the face event in the feedback conversation — these were named from watching them happen, not from reading about them.

Cultural intelligence is not a supplement to leadership capability. It is the architecture that makes leadership capability work — in the markets where the next decade of global business will actually be decided.

Asian Expertise. Global Standard. The Sigma Methodology.

Sigma Training is sensitive to complex cultural nuances

Because the cultural intelligence required to build global companies is not one-directional, Sigma training covers all aspects. The timing for Asian leadership has never been more consequential.

← Direction One

Asian Executives.
Global Stage.

For senior professionals from Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Hong Kong who negotiate, govern, lead, and build commercially across international markets — and need to navigate both cultural registers with equal fluency.

Negotiation and influence across the Western professional register
Leadership presence and communication in international boardrooms
Brand performance and commercial strategies for global market entry
AI governance for boards navigating ESG and the global regulatory environment
Direction Two →

Western Professionals operating in
Asian Markets.

For MNC professionals, regional leaders, and commercial teams operating across Asian markets who recognise that the leadership playbook that built their early careers is less relevant in markets where the cultural operating system is highly complex.

Negotiation in markets where the relationship precedes the transaction
Change management in high-context organisations where Western frameworks fail
Commercial growth in markets where trust architecture drives sales outcomes
AI governance communication across cultural and hierarchical registers
